Emily Afton
Emily Afton
Emily Afton’s voice is transporting. Deep and smokey, Emily delivers her emotive and honest songs from a place that feels lodged in the past, rooted in a dreamy era. You can hear the Georgian lineage on her mother’s side, conjuring a Southern swamp, mixed with urbane pop relevance. Oakland indie-rock meets an after hours quest for mischief, with ribbons of soul and electro-pop interwoven.
Mama Crow
Mama Crow
Peruvian/Spanish/Irish/Puerto Rican hybrid-born Carmen Maria Gutierrez, later to take on the name and medicine of the Crow. This New York native and California transplant is a self-taught guitarist and soulful songstress that evokes listeners on a deep, soul level. Her sound is a mix of rhythmic, funky finger picking and string slapping, guttural blues belts and quick lyrical flow with insidious phrasing. Mama C's sound has been dubbed as a love-child of Feist, Lauryn Hill and Nai Palm of Hiatus Kaiyote. Through music/art/dance/activism and community building, this artist is here to make a positive difference through her spirited message and powerful presence. She has worked with/collaborated/opened for artists like Michael Franti & Spearhead, Rising Appalachia, Karsh Kale (Tabla Beat Science), Killah Priest (Wu-Tang), Helena (Warner Bros) and many more.
Drea. M
Drea. M commands the heart to listen. Gut-driven and refined, her songs combine rich vocal harmonies, nuanced lyrics, and atmospheric instrumentation to create a haunting sound that is sophisticated without losing its emotional edge. From multi-instrumental acoustic arrangements to the more recent incorporation of orchestral, big-sound beats, what continues to drive her work is heartfelt grit and an unwavering honesty about what it means to be profoundly alive.
